Fiftieth Celebration
2010 represents the 50th anniversary of the birth of composer J. Mark Scearce, born October 9, 1960. In celebration of his 50th birthday and 30th year of composing, the Raleigh Civic Chamber Symphony will perform two of his orchestral works—“This Thread", a collaboration with Nobel and Pulitzer-prize winner Toni Morrison, and the premiere of the orchestrated "Mourning Songs" on five poems by his brother Michael. This special concert on the theme of Poetry and Music takes place Sunday, November 14, at 4pm, in Stewart Theatre.
